Monday Night

It's 10:00pm and Dan and I are working on our respective computers. He swears at the spreadsheets as I pour through journal articles for my thesis. I am also accompanied by a glass of wine and a homemade chocolate chip-ice-cream sandwich. I am feeling a little antsy and I look over at my hubby, and yes, he is in a robe. He gets "chilly."

I decide to spice up our Monday night. I pass him a note. It says:

Do you want to go out with me on Friday Night. Check Yes or No.

"Pssst," I say as I pass him the note, complete with heart surounding his name.

Smiling to himself, he writes back quickly.

Can we hold hands?

I write: Maybe...but you can't kiss me...yet.

His reply: I don't want to go anymore.

When the cat is away...

The mouse will play.

When Riley is at school, Reese is a maniac in the playroom. Riley has become, let's say, territorial over her toys in the playroom and you will often find her grabbing things out of baby sister's hand when she is really getting into playing with something. So, when Riley is at school or on the RARE chance she has fallen asleep, Reese gets some good playing in.

I took a little video of this...and happened to catch "peg-leg" in action. It's like Reese isn't satisfied with this crawling nonsense so she uses one leg as a kick-stand of sorts. She's crawling along with her peg-leg jutting out and then she will get into a knealing position (like she is about to propose to someone). She also pulls up to stand on anything and eveything. I may have to invest in some more foam padding.

Be still my heart

My Mom remarked tonight after staring at Riley for a bit, "It's just so hard to be mad at her, look at her."

Indeed.

I never thought it was possible to love two little people as much as I do, but man, it is totally possible. Check back when they are 16.

A nice day for a picnic

I have to remind myself that it is beautiful outside, we don't get many days like this, and to go out and enjoy it. And enjoy it we did.

Hug or choke-hold?

You decide.
(Please note Reese's drool and Riley's ensemble. She likes to dress herself now).

Happy New Year! It's going to be a wild ride.

Happy Half Birthday

Six months. Half a year. Reese's Age.

Time has literally flown by and we celebrated Reese's half-birthday on December 30th with what else, a half-birthday cake - chocolate, icing, and all. Just because she can't eat cake doesn't mean Riley and I can't, right?

Did I mention Reese is obsessed with food. Like, she pulls food from me, off the table, drinks from our hand, the whole nine yards. Come to think about it, she probably would have liked it a bit better if I would have just served up a Porterhouse instead of a measly little cake for the celebration.
Prior to the "festivities," here is Reese and Riley lounging on the couch, oblivious to what is about to happen.
Oh wait....is that food? CAKE!!!

The cake presentation...

For some reason, Dan turned off the camera...just as she went in for the kill. In true Reese fashion, she grabbed hold of what she could and clung to the icing for dear life.
